ABSTRACT

Cancer remains one of the most pressing health challenges worldwide, with conventional treatments often accompanied by significant side effects and limited efficacy in certain cases. In this context, the exploration of natural remedies and alternative thera- pies has gained momentum. One such promising candidate is As- paragus racemosus, commonly known as Shatavari. This medici- nal plant, revered in traditional Ayurvedic medicine, is known for its potential therapeutic properties, including anticancer activity. This review aims to explore nutritional and anticancer properties of Asparagus racemosus roots. Asparagus racemosus has a rich history of medicinal use, particularly in Ayurveda, where it is prized for its adaptogenic, immunomodulatory, and rejuvenating properties. Recent scientific research has begun to validate these traditional claims, identifying various bioactive compounds in Shatavari that exhibit promising anticancer activities. Under- standing the full spectrum of its therapeutic potential is crucial, especially in light of the growing interest in plant-based treat- ments and the need for safer, more effective cancer therapies.
