Salacia oblonga, a medicinal plant native to India and Sri Lanka, has gained attention in recent years due to its potential health benefits. This review article aims to provide a comprehen- sive overview of the phytochemistry and pharmacological actions of Salacia oblonga. Through an extensive literature review, we dis- cuss the chemical constituents present in Salacia oblonga, includ- ing polyphenols, triterpenoids, and alkaloids. Furthermore, we ex- plore its diverse pharmacological actions, such as anti-diabetic, anti-inflammatory, anti-obesity, anti-hyperlipidemic, and anti- cancer properties. Understanding the phytochemical composition and pharmacological effects of Salacia oblonga is crucial for har- nessing its therapeutic potential and developing novel pharmaceu- ticals.
